Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Industry Ministry secured multiple investment commitments in industrial estate development, agro-industry, and sustainable manufacturing during the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, the government said Saturday.

Deputy Industry Minister Faisol Riza said Indonesia’s participation, through a national pavilion and business forum from October 6–13, successfully drew foreign investor interest.

“The forum is not only a platform to showcase Indonesia’s industrial potential but also to strengthen global partnerships for inclusive and sustainable industrial growth,” he said.

During the event, Riza held talks with two key Japanese partners — Panasonic Energy and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

The discussions with Panasonic focused on cooperation in battery technology, while talks with NEDO centered on research and implementation of sustainable industrial technologies in Indonesia.

Director General for Industrial Resilience, Regionalization, and International Access (KPAII) Tri Supondy said Indonesia’s presence at the Osaka Expo serves as a key moment to boost strategic cooperation between the government, industry players, and international investors.

The participation also strengthened Indonesia’s industrial diplomacy and opened wider access for national manufacturing exports, particularly to Japan and global markets. The government aims to expand the contribution of manufactured goods, processed foods, and technology products in its export structure.

On October 6, the first day of the business forum, themed Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development: The Implementation of SDGs in Indonesia’s Manufacturing Industry, several strategic agreements were signed. Among them was a cooperation pact between Supondy and NEDO President Yokoshima Naohiko on sustainable technology development in the industrial sector.

Another deal was signed between Artha Industrial Hill and Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co. Ltd., covering a Conditional Sale and Purchase Agreement valued at US$317 million to build a modern manufacturing facility in Karawang. Both agreements were witnessed by Riza.

The second day of the forum shifted focus to Indonesia’s agro-industry. Three firms — PT Frootiful Natural Nusantara, PT Alga Bioteknologi Indonesia (ALBITEC), and PT Bukit Sari — showcased innovative products.

Indonesia also signed Letters of Intent with Japan’s Space Seed Holdings Inc. and Take Craft LLC on collaborations in healthy lifestyle, biotechnology, and microalgae-based nutrition.
