In a statement cited in Jakarta, the secretariat described Prabowo’s visit reflects Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening its role and position in global forums while promoting innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation.
“President Prabowo’s presence at Expo 2025 in Osaka serves as a manifestation of Indonesia’s diplomacy on the global stage, cementing the country’s position as one of the most influential regional and world powers,” the statement said.
Upon arriving at Kansai International Airport at 8:30 a.m. local time, the president was welcomed by Charge d’Affaires ad interim at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Maria Renata Hutagalung, Indonesian Consul General in Osaka John Boestami, and Indonesian Defense Attaché Commodore Hidayaturrahman.
Also present at the airport were former Assistant Cabinet Secretary of Japan Keiichi Ichikawa and Japanese Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador in Charge of the Kansai Region Yasushi Misawa.
During the flight, the Indonesian leader was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Expo 2025 in Osaka will run for six months from April 13 to October 13 under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” encouraging global collaboration on shared challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, and sustainable development.
Through its pavilion, Indonesia highlights its presence among 158 participating countries of the global exhibition. The country has also secured US$23.8 billion in investment commitments across key strategic sectors.
Carrying the theme “Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future” and inspired by the Balinese philosophy Tri Hita Karana, the Indonesia Pavilion promotes harmony among people, nature, and the divine.
