Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology on Thursday voiced support for expanding cooperation with Poland to boost talent development in research, language studies, and the gaming industry.

Deputy Minister Stella Christie said the partnership aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s priorities to increase the number of specialist doctors and strengthen food and energy security—areas in which Polish universities have strong expertise.

“President Prabowo has conveyed the need to increase the number of specialist doctors and strengthen food and energy security, which can be achieved through collaboration with Poland, whose universities are leaders in these fields,” Christie said in a ministry statement.

She noted that the ministry will streamline the degree equivalency process, particularly for medical specialists, and will share successful international partnership models with the Polish Embassy in Jakarta.

“We will gladly help facilitate communication with potential partner universities. Some campuses are already working with Poland or are located in areas popular with Polish tourists,” she added.

Christie also highlighted the rising potential of Indonesia’s gaming sector, pointing to youth interest in animation, design, and game development as key drivers for deeper collaboration.

“We can offer more scholarships and organize seminars focused on game development. The gaming industry is now a high-value sector in Indonesia,” she said.

Polish Ambassador to Indonesia Barbara Szymanowska welcomed the initiative, noting that many Polish universities offer English-language programs that appeal to international students.

She proposed short-term research opportunities, scholarships for Indonesian students, and stronger links between universities in both countries—especially in priority fields such as aviation and geology.

Szymanowska said her office would provide data on leading Polish universities and student demographics to support future partnership efforts.
