Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said Wednesday that Garuda Spark is designed to become a cornerstone in realizing President Prabowo’s vision of ensuring that technological progress extends beyond major cities to empower local economies nationwide.
“Technology must empower people, drive innovation, and create opportunities across the nation. Through Garuda Spark, we aim to nurture two million new tech entrepreneurs who build real solutions for education, health care, and the local economy,” Meutya stated.
According to Hafid, Garuda Spark is envisioned as a collaborative and incubation arena where startups, investors, and industry stakeholders can connect and cooperate to build impactful digital solutions.
Beyond serving as co-working spaces, each Garuda Spark hub also functions as a training, mentorship, and access to financing for technology innovators from diverse regions of Indonesia.
“The spirit of this program is from spark to impact, from a small spark of innovation to tangible social and economic impact,” Hafid said.
“Each hub serves not only as a co-working space, but as a collaborative arena where ideas take shape, startups meet investors, and innovation delivers tangible benefits to the community,” she added.
Garuda Spark is expected to generate new jobs and enhance local economic competitiveness, particularly in strategic sectors such as education, health care, agriculture, and the creative industries.
The program also aims to accelerate the equal distribution of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem beyond the island of Java.
To date, Kemkomdigi has launched the first two hubs in Bandung and Jakarta in late September and early October, respectively. Two more hubs in Aceh and Medan are scheduled to open before the end of 2025.
These four hubs mark the starting point of the Garuda Spark network, which will continue to expand across the archipelago in the coming years.
