Jakarta (ANTARA) - Drug distribution in Indonesia has become increasingly diverse and is now targeting students, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has warned.

BNN head Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto said narcotics are no longer distributed only in conventional forms but are also disguised as candies, drinks, and electronic cigarettes or vapes.

Speaking at the National Anti-Drug Camp in Jakarta on Saturday, Seto urged students to stay vigilant and resist the temptation to experiment with harmful substances.

"Trying drugs even once can lead to addiction. Over time, drug use can damage the brain, physical health, and mental well-being, and in many cases, it can lead to death," he said in a statement issued on Monday.

Seto emphasized that young people play a vital role in protecting the nation from the threat of narcotics. He praised the enthusiasm of camp participants for showing concern for Indonesia's future.

The camp, initiated by the Barisan Intelektual Strategi Objektif Nasional (BISON), is regarded as a positive effort to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs among students.

The event also served as a platform for character building, strengthening determination, and reinforcing young people's commitment to protect one another from narcotics.

Raffi Ahmad, Special Envoy of the President for Youth Development and Creative Workers, who attended the event, reminded participants to stay away from drugs and focus on achieving success.

"Don't think you look cool by using drugs. What's truly cool is when you create and achieve something great, not when you use drugs. So never even try them," Ahmad said.

The National Anti-Drug Camp, held from October 24 to 26, brought together 1,200 students from 50 schools across Greater Jakarta. Participants took part in various activities aimed at instilling national values, strengthening character, and fostering unity.
