Bandarlampung (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, accompanied by Presidential Chief of Staff Muhammad Qodari, conducted an inspection in Lampung Utara District on Wednesday to ensure the government’s 20 percent reduction in fertilizer prices is being implemented.

Both officials visited the Mitra Tani Sejati fertilizer kiosk in Kotabumi Utara Sub-district to directly observe the application of the price cut policy.

“The inspection was carried out to directly verify President Prabowo Subianto’s policy of reducing subsidized fertilizer prices by 20 percent nationwide,” Sulaiman said in Lampung Utara District.

He said the policy reflects the president’s strong commitment to support farmers and marks the first significant fertilizer price cut in Indonesia’s agricultural history.

“This is a directive from the President, who truly cares for farmers. The 20 percent reduction is unprecedented and part of a major effort to make fertilizer more affordable,” he stated.

Sulaiman added that the reform includes revitalizing the fertilizer industry, simplifying distribution channels, and ensuring lower prices without increasing the state budget subsidy.

He reported that the inspection showed fertilizer prices had decreased in line with the national policy.

“We asked both distributors and farmers here, and they confirmed that prices have dropped significantly,” Sulaiman said.

Meanwhile, Qodari emphasized that the findings prove the policy’s effectiveness and swift implementation.

“Today’s visit confirms that fertilizer prices here have indeed fallen by 20 percent. The decision was made in Jakarta just days ago, and now farmers in Kotabumi are already benefiting,” he noted.

The decree, which took effect on October 22, 2025, was issued under Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 1117/Kpts/SR.310/M/10/2025 and revises the previous policy regarding subsidized fertilizer types, ceiling prices, and allocations for the 2025 fiscal year.

Under the new regulation, prices for all subsidized fertilizers have been reduced: Urea from Rp2,250 (US$0.14) to Rp1,800 (US$0.11) per kilogram, NPK from Rp2,300 (US$0.14) to Rp1,840 (US$0.11), NPK for cocoa from Rp3,300 (US$0.20) to Rp2,640 (US$0.16), ZA for sugarcane from Rp1,700 (US$0.10) to Rp1,360 (US$0.08), and organic fertilizer from Rp800 (US$0.05) to Rp640 (US$0.04) per kilogram.
