Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas) has deployed its disaster response (BTB) team to deliver assistance to residents affected by flash floods and landslides that hit Cisolok, Sukabumi District, West Java.

"Our efforts are not just focused on providing logistics but also on boosting the victims' morale and ensuring they receive adequate basic services," Baznas Deputy for Distribution and Empowerment Imdadun Rahmat remarked.

In a statement cited here on Friday, he noted that Baznas had been involved in emergency measures in the disaster-hit area since Monday (October 27), focusing on humanitarian operations.

According to him, the BTB team has been working hand in hand with local residents to carry out various activities, including clearing debris, setting up clean water facilities, and distributing ready-to-eat meals to survivors and volunteers.

Rahmat said the Islamic philanthropic agency is producing and distributing up to 200 meal portions daily, adding, "The team has also conducted assessments on the impact of landslides in Pamokohan, Sukarame Village."

He further stated that Baznas would continue to monitor conditions in Cisolok and stands ready to provide greater assistance if needed. The official also underlined the importance of strong synergy among all stakeholders to ensure effective disaster handling measures.

Earlier, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that flooding in Cisolok, which was triggered by heavy rain and strong winds on Monday (October 27), had affected at least 1,835 residents from 612 families.

The torrential rain caused a river embankment to burst, raising water levels up to 200 centimeters, and triggered landslides in several locations, which damaged 17 houses and disrupted access to one village road.

In response, the BNPB deployed a team to expedite emergency handling and conducted weather modification operations by seeding salt into potential rain clouds over West Java in collaboration with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
