Jakarta (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon announced that Indonesia will hold the Indonesia-Pacific Cultural Synergy (IPACS) 2025 as part of cultural diplomacy efforts to show commitment to realizing an inclusive future with Pacific nations.

“This is part of our cultural diplomacy, promoting cooperation and cultural exchange. Indonesia is not only part of Asia but also the Pacific, which is why we engage with the Asia-Pacific,” Zon said during a press conference here on Thursday.

Under the theme “Celebrating Shared Cultures and Community Wisdom,” IPACS 2025 will take place in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, on November 11-13, 2025, aiming to showcase Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage to a global audience, particularly within the Asia-Pacific region.

“At the same time, it introduces our culture to Pacific countries. It is also part of our soft diplomacy to engage Pacific nations, which are often just one ocean away,” he added.

Seventeen countries have been invited to the forum, with twelve confirmed participants, including Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Caledonia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Samoa, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Niue, French Polynesia, and Timor-Leste.

IPACS 2025 is expected to produce tangible outcomes, such as inter-ministerial policy recommendations, a permanent cultural residency network, innovative cultural products with economic value for local communities, and sustainable cultural policy strategies.

During the ministers’ forum, participants will adopt a joint statement titled “A Shared Vision for Sustainable and Resilient Pacific,” reflecting a commitment to addressing global challenges, including climate change and digital disruption.

“Connecting our cultural heritage is the best way to strengthen solidarity, preserve identity, and foster a sustainable creative economy. IPACS 2025 stresses Indonesia’s commitment to equitable cooperation with Pacific nations for a resilient and inclusive future,” Zon stated.
