Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Professor Arif Satria as Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and Professor Amarulla Octavian as Deputy Head at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

Currently serving as the 15th Rector of the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB), Satria succeeded Laksana Tri Handoko, while Octavian—a retired navy vice admiral—extended his service at BRIN as Deputy Head.

The inauguration began with the Deputy for Apparatus Administration at the Ministry of State Secretariat reading out Presidential Decree No. 123/P of 2025 on the dismissal and appointment of the head and deputy head of the BRIN. Following this, President Prabowo guided Satria and Octavian to recite their oath of office.

“In the name of God, I vow to fulfill my responsibilities to the best extent in a fair and just manner and to uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” the pledge read.

Satria and Octavian further pledged to strictly enforce all applicable laws in accordance with the 1945 Constitution and to faithfully serve the country and the nation.

Born on September 17, 1971, Satria officially became the third BRIN Head while concurrently serving his second term as IPB Rector for the 2023–2028 period.

Known as a political ecology expert, Satria earned his permanent professorship at IPB’s Faculty of Human Ecology, with his views often cited in national policymaking.

He has also held several strategic roles, including President of the Indonesian Muslim Scholar Association and Chair of the Indonesian Rectors Forum.
