“The goal of APPSI is to create local governance that is clean, effective, creative, confident, and responsible,” Wiyagus said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Since its establishment on June 6, 2000, APPSI has strengthened the implementation of regional autonomy and served as a national platform to enhance coordination between the central and provincial governments.
Through this collaboration, provinces can exchange best practices, improve governance, and harness regional potential for national progress.
Wiyagus stressed that national development relies on the active role of local governments, guided by national policies.
He cited Presidential Regulation No. 12 of 2025, which outlines the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029 and charts the path toward Indonesia Gold 2045.
“This vision is articulated through Astacita and implemented in 32 concurrent regional government affairs,” he said.
Local governments’ involvement is critical to national programs, including the Free Nutritious Food Program (MBG), Red and White Village/Neighborhood Cooperatives, the 3 Million Houses Program, and the People’s School and Garuda Excellent Schools initiatives.
Wiyagus urged regional leaders to provide concrete support to ensure these programs benefit communities directly.
Economic stability at the regional level is equally vital. “Controlling inflation and fostering economic growth must be a shared priority,” he noted.
Wiyagus outlined five key messages for governors as APPSI administrators: align RPJMN and Regional Medium-Term Development Plans (RPJMD), harmonize central-regional relations, optimize resources efficiently and equitably, adjust budgets synergistically, and maximize regional potential for national development.
“Let us use the APPSI Board inauguration as a starting point to strengthen synergy, solidify collaboration, and reaffirm our commitment to building Indonesia from the regions,” Wiyagus added.
