The disaster caused damage to 12 houses while threatening 16 others in areas spanning 6.5 hectares. Besides burying areas in two villages, the landslide also caused two-meter land subsidence and a 25-meter crack in affected areas.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said it has ensured a swift emergency response to the landslide in Cilacap District.

"The President conveyed his condolences. He instructed BNPB to deploy personnel to the site and assist in completing the landslide response in Majenang until the emergency response period is over," said Budi Irawan, BNPB's Deputy for Emergency Response, in a statement received on Saturday.

BNPB appealed to the residents to remain alert as light to moderate rainfall is still likely to occur until Sunday, especially in the Majenang basin area, which is prone to landslides.
