Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar highlighted that cross-sector collaboration is a strategy under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration to achieve an equitable economy.

“Collaboration is a priority to ensure that every policy has a real impact,” Iskandar said during his keynote speech at the National Seminar on Indonesia’s 2026 Economic Projection: “Reshaping the Direction of Equitable Economy" here on Thursday.

He explained that an equitable economy aims to address “structural bottlenecks,” where macroeconomic growth benefits only a select few, particularly those from upper economic groups.

His statement aligns with one of the Asta Cita missions promoted by the Prabowo-Gibran administration, which is built from the village and grassroots for economic growth, economic equity, and poverty eradication.

During the forum with stakeholders, Iskandar stressed the need for alignment between central and regional governments, businesses, and knowledge communities.

He noted that challenges in economic equity stem not only from income disparities but also from policies that are inconsistently implemented on the ground.

According to him, the central government’s ability to formulate policies is not enough if regional governments do not implement them precisely, especially in identifying community needs and translating programs locally.

Iskandar also urged the business sector and academia to actively contribute to an economic ecosystem that strengthens productive communities, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, fishers, and informal workers.

The government believes that involving all elements of society is essential to achieving growth that not only increases numbers but also expands opportunities.

He concluded by emphasizing that the journey toward an equitable Indonesian economy is long but can be accelerated if all parties move in harmony.

Shared commitment is the foundation to ensure economic growth genuinely improves people’s welfare, he added.
