Bandung Police Public Relations Officer, First Inspector Opi Taufik, said that Nurfadilah arrived in Indonesia on Saturday (November 22), accompanied by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a team from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Phnom Penh.
"Last Saturday, a joint team from the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit, and the West Java Provincial BP3MI (Indonesian Migrant Workers' Association), welcomed Rizki at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, in Banten," Taufik said on Monday.
Nurfadilah was immediately taken to the Bandung Police Headquarters for questioning to determine the chronology of his travel to Cambodia, including tracing the initial job offer.
"Today, Rizki underwent a medical examination and was further investigated by the investigators regarding the incident," Taufik remarked.
After the initial investigation, Nurfadilah was returned to his family and will be taken care of by the Bandung District Social Services.
According to Taufik, this case is still under investigation to determine the involvement of an alleged human trafficking syndicate.
"Criminal Investigation Unit Investigators will conduct an in-depth investigation to establish legal facts supported by evidence," he stated.
Previously, the Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, said Rizki Nurfadilah was not confirmed to be a victim of human trafficking in Cambodia.
Rochmawan said that Rizki lied to his family and the public for sympathy.
In fact, Rizki enrolled himself through social media and knowingly accepted a job as an online fraud operator in Cambodia.
"He was aware that he would be a online fraud operator there for a certain salary. He only speculated about whether the job would be good or not. But he told his parents that he would be joining as a football player for PSMS Medan," the police explained.
Previously, the family revealed that Rizki had been lured into joining the PSMS Medan football team selection by someone he met on Facebook.
