He said the government is sending 32,700 tonnes of rice and 6,300 tonnes of cooking oil to ensure basic supplies reach affected residents quickly as severe flooding disrupts access to markets and public services.
North Sumatra will receive 16,000 tonnes of rice and 3,000 tonnes of cooking oil, which Amran said will help stabilize food availability in districts where inundation has damaged homes, farmland and transport links.
West Sumatra will receive 6,700 tonnes of rice and 1,300 tonnes of cooking oil to support daily needs and accelerate recovery efforts in areas reporting widespread displacement and infrastructure damage.
Aceh will receive 10,000 tonnes of rice and 2,000 tonnes of cooking oil, with distribution prioritized for communities isolated by rising waters and landslides triggered by days of heavy rainfall.
Amran said the shipments were arranged with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), the National Food Agency (Bapanas), the Food Task Force and the military, enabling a coordinated deployment of supplies to provincial warehouses.
He said regional Bulog offices would distribute the aid and noted Aceh’s rice surplus of 871,000 tonnes allowed the government to draw from local stocks and dispatch assistance without logistical delays.
North Sumatra’s production surplus also supported the immediate release of 16,000 tonnes of rice and cooking oil, he said, adding that existing inventories helped maintain food access as flooding persists.
Amran said ministry teams were departing on Friday for the three provinces to monitor field operations and ensure supplies are delivered evenly.
He added he would visit the regions once his health improves.
