Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is accelerating the delivery of supplies and equipment to various disaster-hit areas in Aceh Province, utilizing land, sea, and air routes to ensure rapid assistance.

The Head of the BNPB Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, stated in Jakarta on Saturday that aid deliveries will be conducted from two main points—Banda Aceh and Medan City—to reach areas still isolated due to disrupted transportation access.

Based on the BNPB operations team’s planning, several routes that are impassable for land vehicles will be redirected via sea routes from Banda Aceh and Medan City.

He said that the delivery process using the Express Bahari ship is currently underway to reach Lhokseumawe, Langsa, North Aceh, East Aceh, and Aceh Tamiang.

Meanwhile, for areas still inaccessible by land or sea, the BNPB is preparing air support using caravan aircraft and helicopters.

Muhari stated that air fleets from the Indonesian Air Force, Navy, and Army, along with two BNPB helicopters, are supporting the distribution of emergency aid. For land routes, aid shipments that departed on Friday (Nov 28) to Pidie Jaya, Pidie, Bireuen, Aceh Besar, and West Aceh Districts arrived on Saturday (Nov 29).

Each destination area received 200 basic food packages, 200 ready-to-eat meal packages, 100 hygiene kits, 200 folding mattresses, 100 cleaning supplies, 100 blankets, and 100 mattresses, as well as equipment such as Starlink satellite internet devices, generators, and boats.

BNPB stated that all distribution schemes were carried out simultaneously to ensure that aid quickly reached communities affected by the disaster in Aceh. As of the time of reporting, the distribution of logistics and equipment was ongoing through combined land, sea, and air routes, with priority placed on meeting basic needs and restoring access for affected residents.
