Lilawangsa Resort Military Command Chief Col. Ali Imran said troops from 09/Ketol Subdistrict Military Command, 0106 Central Aceh Military Command, risked their safety to bring food and supplies to Burlah Kekuyang and Buge Ara villages in Ketol district.
“I salute them. To ease people’s hardships, our Babinsa soldiers did not hesitate despite the dangers,” Imran said in a statement from Banda Aceh on Tuesday.
Soldiers clung to cables while wading through fast currents to hand-carry relief packages, completing a mission that required scaling slick, landslide-hit hillsides.
Imran praised the effort, saying soldiers focused solely on reaching stranded residents who had received no outside assistance since the disaster.
He said the deployment followed President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to accelerate relief delivery across flood-hit regions in three provinces, including Aceh.
“President Prabowo is deeply concerned. He cannot bear to see people suffer, and he and his ministers are working to prevent prolonged hardship,” Imran said.
He added that teams continue pushing through weather and terrain challenges to distribute aid to remote communities.
Fresh support also arrived by sea after the Navy confirmed that KRI Sutedi Senoputra-378 docked safely in Aceh early Tuesday, carrying 50 tons of presidential aid.
The ship, operating under Kodarael I, departed Belawan, North Sumatra, on Monday before sailing to Aceh, Navy Fleet Commander Adm. Denih Hendrata said.
He said the Navy deployed the vessel to ensure rapid and secure delivery of emergency supplies to disaster zones.
“Once the aid reached the port, our personnel moved it to affected areas using fishing boats on standby,” Denih said, adding all naval ships remain ready to support relief operations. He said the Navy’s involvement reflects its critical humanitarian role under presidential orders.
Earlier, President Prabowo told survivors in Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra, that the government would not leave disaster-affected communities to face recovery alone.
“We are one family. You will not carry this burden alone,” he said, according to the Presidential Media Team.
He said weather conditions have improved, aid is flowing, and repairs to basic infrastructure are also advancing.
