"Between Turkey and Indonesia, there is, I think, very close contact as far as the Palestinian issue is concerned and the peace efforts that we now follow today," said the ambassador during a special interview with ANTARA News Agency at the Turkish Embassy here on Monday.
He said that the Palestinian issue had almost become a national issue both in Indonesia and in Turkey.
Both countries believe that Israeli aggression and settlements throughout Palestine constitute a clear violation of the UN Charter and all human rights issues.
Turkey and Indonesia have also considered the Israeli attack on Gaza from the beginning as a problem that needs to be addressed and resolved together through cooperation.
"I think Indonesia is one of the countries that has also done a lot, and Indonesia's commitment to Palestine, particularly in Gaza, on the ground, is something that Turkey and Indonesia can collaborate on," he said.
He said that Turkey and Indonesia need to continue to pursue this cooperation, as both countries are always striving to find peaceful solutions, especially to achieve peace in Palestine.
"We have always been a mediating country because we do not want to take strong positions against any country," Kucukcan said, regarding Turkey's position.
He said his country needs to push for a peaceful solution given its position in the midst of wars and conflicts both in the region and elsewhere.
Therefore, Turkey is encouraging strengthening cooperation with Indonesia to find a very positive approach and a peaceful solution regarding the problems in Palestine.
