Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development has ensured that the repair of critical infrastructure destroyed in Sumatra, such as bridges and roads, is being accelerated to facilitate the delivery of aid.

“We have mapped and identified the needs. Currently, the Public Works Ministry is carrying out its duties so access can be restored quickly,” Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said during the dispatch of aid for flood victims here on Friday.

He added that the budget requirements for the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase have been calculated. However, due to the damage caused by the disaster, the immediate focus is on repairing critical infrastructure.

“Of course, we continue to work together with all components of the nation, including the business sector. The government is carrying out its duties tactically, effectively, and precisely,” he said.

Infrastructure repairs are not only aimed at facilitating logistics but also at revitalizing the local economy, which has been paralyzed by the floods and landslides that destroyed homes and business buildings.

The government also encouraged the private sector to participate in boosting the post-disaster economy so that communities can recover.

“Once again, infrastructure is vital because logistics need connected roads. We invite all parties to work together to assist affected residents using the resources and capabilities they have,” Yudhoyono emphasized.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Works, through the Aceh National Road Implementation Office, said it has accelerated the restoration of national road access in several flood-affected areas of Aceh.

Several road sections were gradually recovering following emergency response steps aimed at restoring connectivity, public mobility, and the distribution of logistics.
