Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center at BNPB, Abdul Muhari, said in Banda Aceh on Saturday that the reduction in the number of evacuees is because some have already returned to their respective homes.
Meanwhile, the death toll across the three provinces reached 1,006 as of Saturday, consisting of 414 fatalities in Aceh, 349 in North Sumatra, and 242 in West Sumatra.
"The number of missing persons has decreased from 226 names to 217 names. Some disaster data shows a decrease, and some show an increase. This dynamic in the data is due to the validation and identification process," he explained.
Regarding the distribution of logistics, Muhari affirmed that the BNPB, along with other related parties, continues to optimize the delivery of supplies to the affected residents during the second phase of the emergency response.
"Logistics distribution today included 16 air shipments weighing 11.3 tons, two land shipments weighing three tons, and five sea shipments totaling 47.4 tons," he expounded.
He added that the restoration of bridges severed by the floods is being accelerated and is expected to be completed as soon as possible. The restoration of these bridges is aimed at speeding up the distribution of aid via land.
"We continue to speed up the restoration of cut-off bridges, especially along the east route of Aceh. Once all the bridges are completed, the distribution of aid to the disaster-hit areas can be optimized," he asserted.
