KAI Operations Director Awan Hermawan Purwadinata affirmed that all units across Java and Sumatra are on full alert to safeguard public mobility, which is expected to surge starting today.
"The Christmas and New Year period runs from December 18, 2025, to January 4, 2026. We are fully prepared across Java and Sumatra. During the 18-day period, we will operate 392 trains with 52 additional services," Purwadinata said here on Thursday.
KAI places special emphasis on security aspects by deploying full-strength personnel involving external elements from the Indonesian Military and National Police.
Personnel deployment was symbolically marked by a routine preparation in the Bandung Operation Area (Daop) 2, focused not only on stations but also on the reliability of railway physical infrastructure.

"There are more than 2,300 security personnel from all sectors. In total, there are 2,392, including level crossing guards, on-train crews, and cleaning teams," Purwadinata added.
Specifically, the Bandung Operational Area became a key focus considering the challenging geographical profile of its railway routes.
Daop 2 Bandung Executive Vice President Hendra Wahyono said his team has mapped dozens of locations requiring close supervision.
"For Daop 2 Bandung, we deployed 1,800 personnel. We added around 130 dedicated guards at vulnerable areas and level crossings, with 53 risk-prone points identified," Wahyono said.
The reinforcement of personnel at 53 vulnerable points has become a priority to mitigate potential natural and technical disruptions in order to ensure the smooth operation of 15,962 seats daily in the Bandung area, or a total of 287,316 seats during the period.
