Jakarta (ANTARA) - Over 145,000 joint personnel will be deployed for the year-end holiday security operation, dubbed "Operasi Lilin 2025" (Operation Candle), which will be active from December 20, 2025, to January 2, 2026.

According to Deputy Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, the personnel, totaling 146,701, will come from the police, the military, and other agencies.

"The joint personnel comprise 77,637 Police officers, 13,775 military personnel, and 55,289 personnel from other stakeholders," Prasetyo stated after attending a cross-sectoral coordination meeting here on Monday.

The Indonesian Police will also set up 1,807 security posts, 763 service posts, and 333 integrated posts to provide security at 44,246 places throughout the country, the Deputy Police Chief said.

The places include "churches, terminals, sea ports, airports, train stations, shopping malls, tourism destinations, and 2026 New Year celebration centers," he added.

Prasetyo said that Transportation Ministry data show that 119.5 million Indonesians are expected to travel during the 2025 Christmas–2026 New Year holiday period.

Meanwhile, travel is projected to peak on December 20–24, 2025, and the return flow is expected to peak between December 28, 2025, and January 4, 2026, he noted.

To anticipate potential traffic congestion during the holiday period, the police have devised traffic control scenarios including an odd-even traffic scheme, contraflow, and a one-way traffic system.

"The police will disseminate it intensively with other stakeholders through various channels, including social media and direct engagement with residents," Prasetyo said.

Residents can also access police help through the 110 hotline if they encounter emergencies, security issues, or traffic congestion during the year-end holiday period, he remarked.
