Citing data from the Ministry of Transportation, Gibran said year-end holiday travel is projected to increase by 2.71 percent compared to last year.
"As many as 20.3 million people are predicted to travel to Central Java during the holiday period," he said in a statement.
During the inspection, he urged all stakeholders to maximize service quality and ensure safety and security during year-end travel.
He called on the military, police, regional transportation offices and transport service providers to increase vigilance and take preventive measures to ensure orderly and safe movement of travelers.
Gibran also expressed appreciation to security personnel, transport workers and employees for their dedication in serving the public during the long holiday period.
The visit formed part of his agenda in Central Java, which earlier included attending a Christmas celebration at Pancasila Square in Sidomukti, Salatiga City, attended by around 10,000 Christians.
At the event, he reminded religious leaders and the public of the importance of preserving diversity and tolerance as part of Indonesia's national character.
He also invited the public to pray for victims of floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra, and presented Christmas gifts to local children.
