Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s public broadcaster TVRI has confirmed it will air the 2026 FIFA World Cup free-to-air, ensuring nationwide access to all matches.

“TVRI has secured the broadcasting rights for the 2026 World Cup in Indonesia and will air all matches on a terrestrial or free-to-air basis,” said TVRI President Director Iman Brotoseno on Wednesday.

The tournament, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

TVRI will broadcast all 104 matches—from the group stage to the final—on TVRI Sport and TVRI Nasional channels, airing daily from 11:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time.

Brotoseno acknowledged the challenges in securing the rights: “The process of obtaining the 2026 World Cup broadcasting rights was not easy,” he said.

He noted that President Prabowo Subianto provided policy direction and support, helping ensure that the World Cup could be broadcast inclusively for Indonesian audiences.

“The public can access World Cup broadcasts through free-to-air platforms using a regular antenna. Other platforms or OTT services will depend on the policies of third-party operators,” he said.

In addition to television coverage, the government plans to organize public viewing events across multiple locations, in collaboration with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to Brotoseno, this initiative is expected to “stimulate the local economy, broaden access to public entertainment, and utilize the momentum of the World Cup to disseminate educational and informative programs.”
