Aceh Tamiang (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto said he is making efforts to visit regions in Sumatra that have been heavily impacted by floods and landslides.

He made the statement during a limited meeting with 10 ministers, Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, and Aceh Tamiang District Head Armia Pahmi at the Rumah Hunian Danantara housing project site in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, on Thursday.

“I have already informed the Governor and the Minister of Home Affairs. God willing, I will try to visit the areas most severely affected,” Prabowo said.

The president noted that he had received reports from Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian and several governors regarding requests from many regencies for the president’s presence in their regions.

He apologized for not being able to reach all affected areas but emphasized that his presence is prioritized at locations where important activities are taking place.

“I cannot visit all points, but I choose - or am advised to be present - at places where significant activities are ongoing, even though all regions are certainly experiencing serious difficulties,” he said.

On the same occasion, the president also extended New Year greetings amid the ongoing disaster situation.

Prabowo expressed his appreciation to all government personnel on the ground, including ministries and agencies that took the initiative to inspect various affected regions.

He emphasized that the government’s presence in disaster areas is intended to directly observe conditions on the ground, identify the problems faced by residents, and ensure that response measures are carried out appropriately.

“We share responsibilities across regions and locations to check, inspect, and identify problems. Our visits are not just for observation, we come to understand the issues firsthand,” Prabowo said.
