The assistance was distributed on January 2 as part of the Disaster Preparedness Task Force of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), according to Wahyudi Anas, head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), which is part of the task force.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to hand over this aid directly to the community,” Anas said during the distribution in Hutanabolon village, Hutta sub-district, as quoted in a statement released in Jakarta on Monday.
The government provided 55 evacuation tents, 500 grocery packages and other essential supplies aimed at meeting the immediate needs of families forced to flee their homes following the disasters.
Anas said each evacuation tent is designed with one sleeping area and a larger communal space, with a combined capacity to accommodate up to 330 adults, allowing displaced residents to shelter safely and with dignity.
In addition to the tents and food aid, the task force supplied 220 inflatable mattresses, a portable electricity generator, and a large tent designated for a public kitchen, complete with cooking equipment, stoves and liquefied petroleum gas.
Sanitation facilities were also installed at the evacuation site, including water purification systems that enable residents to use well water safely for washing, bathing and drinking.
“You can now use the well water not only for daily hygiene, but also as drinking water because it has been properly purified,” Anas told residents.

To support children affected by the disaster, the government distributed books, stationery, toys and snacks to help ease trauma and maintain a sense of normalcy during the emergency period.
Deputy Head of Central Tapanuli District Mahmud Efendi Lubis said both the central and regional governments remain fully committed to accelerating recovery efforts in the affected areas.
“We have witnessed strong collaboration from many institutions and stakeholders who are working together to support our community,” Lubis said, urging residents to remain resilient in the face of hardship.
The aid distribution concluded with a communal breakfast at the evacuation site, symbolizing solidarity and collective support for families impacted by the floods and landslides.
