Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has called on leaders at all levels of government, as well as executives of state-owned enterprises, to remain steadfast in carrying out their mandate while continuing to fight for the people.

The President made the remarks during the Great Harvest Festival and Food Self-Sufficiency Announcement event in Karawang, West Java, on Wednesday.

“Leaders, officials, governors, district heads, and presidents directors of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) should not be afraid or hesitant. My officials and ministers must not allow this honor to make them negligent. Fight for the people,” Prabowo said.

He stressed that the honor and trust bestowed by the state must never lead officials to become complacent.

According to the President, a mandate must be carried out with full responsibility by siding with the people and through sincere devotion to public service.

Prabowo said that what defines a leader is not position or power, but the legacy they leave behind and the public’s assessment of their leadership.

He added that a leader will be remembered positively if, during their tenure, they are able to defend the people, uphold justice, and protect the weak and the poor.

Conversely, he said, leadership that is abused for personal interests will leave a negative record in the eyes of the public.

The President also urged officials to be grateful for the trust placed in them and to view it as an opportunity to serve and give their best to the nation and the state.

He emphasized that truth and justice ultimately require courageous and honest leadership.

“Sometimes, truth and justice can only be realized through courageous and honest leadership,” he said.
