Chaniago made the statement to officials of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) while opening the BSSN Executive Town Hall 2026 in Depok, West Java, on Monday.
“Cybersecurity is no longer an option but a necessity. It is an absolute prerequisite for maintaining political stability, national security, and sustainable development,” Djamari said when opening the event, as quoted in the ministry's press release.
According to Djamari, cyber threats are evolving far more rapidly than the regulatory drafting process. This proves that an adaptive approach is needed so that such threats can be properly anticipated.
Moreover, in 2026, challenges are expected to become increasingly complex with the emergence of attacks based on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and the use of deepfakes for large-scale disinformation.
Therefore, he called on all BSSN personnel to move quickly in responding to global cybersecurity challenges to create strong national defense.
Through mutual collaboration and work based on a strong spirit of nationalism, Djamari is optimistic that BSSN will be able to become the government's spearhead in defending against various cyber threats and information attacks.
“I invite all BSSN personnel and ranks to continue to serve as the nation’s strategic guard,” he said.
Related to this, in December 2025, BSSN and the Ministry of National Development Planning signed a cooperation agreement to enhance and develop human resources through education, training, and competency improvement activities in the field of cybersecurity and cryptography.
