Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has launched a vocational education partnership with China aimed at training 10,000 skilled workers and strengthening global competitiveness through student exchanges and industry-linked programs.

"This memorandum of understanding is a strategic opportunity for vocational higher education, and we expect it to be implemented in concrete ways that deliver real benefits to society,” Director for Learning and Student Affairs Beny Bandanadjaja said in a statement here on Thursday.

The cooperation links the Indonesian Vocational Higher Education Forum (FPTVI) with the Guangdong Education Association for International Exchange, opening pathways for joint training, internships, certification, and applied learning aligned with industrial needs.

He said the agreement must produce measurable outcomes, generating competent, professional, and globally competitive graduates while contributing to national development.

FPTVI Chairman Muhammad Restu said the pact positions Indonesian polytechnics as emerging global players, with students gaining access to training and internships in Guangdong as a gateway to international labor markets.

A key pillar of the partnership is the 1+10+100+1,000+10,000 scheme, which includes establishing one cooperation center, focusing on 10 priority industries, conducting more than 100 exchange activities, enabling two-way mobility for 1,000 students, and training 10,000 Indonesian talents.

The program is being implemented in collaboration with Lingnan Artisan Polytechnic, integrating industry, education, research, and talent development through joint programs, two-way exchanges, language training, certification, and educator capacity building.

Officials said the initiative promotes brain circulation, allowing Indonesian graduates to gain international experience and return home with skills and knowledge to strengthen the domestic workforce and support long-term industrial development.
