According to him, President Prabowo’s meeting with King Charles III in the United Kingdom holds strategic significance, given that the British monarch is widely known as a global figure with a strong commitment to climate change issues and environmental preservation.
“We believe the meeting will open up opportunities for more concrete cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom in energy transition, biodiversity protection, and also green financing,” Soeparno said in an official press release received here on Thursday.
He added that Prabowo's visit to the UK and WEF is part of efforts to achieve the net-zero emissions (NZE) target by 2060 or earlier.
Such cooperation is also considered highly strategic because Indonesia has abundant natural resources and rich biodiversity.
This situation, he said, requires Indonesia to build global collaboration to ensure that economic development proceeds in harmony with environmental protection.
Soeparno also expressed support for Indonesia’s presence at the global economic forum, noting that it provides an opportunity for the government to convey its policy direction on sustainable economic growth, strengthening national energy security, and commitment to low-carbon development.
Prabowo's special address is expected to strengthen the international community’s and investors’ trust in Indonesia’s seriousness in building a resilient economy, achieving energy self-sufficiency, and acting responsibly toward the environment.
“This message is important so that Indonesia is seen as a strategic partner in green investment and the future economy,” he added.
