Indonesian Chef de Mission Reda Manthovani said the achievement exceeded the contingent’s initial target, particularly in terms of gold medals, which had been set at 43 by the third day of the competition.
“A total of 11 sports have contributed medals and met the target, with the largest contributions coming from para athletics, para swimming, and para table tennis,” Manthovani said during a press conference monitored on Saturday.
On the third day of competition, Indonesia recorded its highest daily medal haul, winning 108 medals in a single day, comprising 29 gold, 36 silver, and 43 bronze medals.
Manthovani noted that the Indonesian contingent competed in 381 of the 502 final events contested, or approximately 76 percent of all events at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games.
He said the highest number of gold medals came from para athletics with 29 golds, followed by para swimming with 15 golds, making the two sports the main contributors to Indonesia’s gold medal tally.
He also highlighted the success of Indonesian athletes in breaking several ASEAN Para Games records.
“This reflects an overall improvement in the quality of athlete performance,” he said.
Looking ahead to the fourth and fifth days of competition, Indonesia is set to compete in 205 events, with a projected addition of up to 40 gold medals from leading sports such as para athletics, para swimming, para table tennis, para chess, and para badminton.
Praising the athletes for surpassing expectations, Manthovani expressed optimism that the Indonesian contingent would finish the 2025 ASEAN Para Games on a strong note, supported by officials and the wider public.
