In a statement from the Presidential Media Team received in Jakarta on Sunday, the BNPB said it is financing the large-scale housing project in cooperation with ministries and other state agencies, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), local governments, and social organizations.
The agency emphasized that some housing units are already occupied by displaced residents, while others remain under development, including thousands spread across multiple districts and cities in Aceh Province.
Specifically, the BNPB, ministries, SOEs, and social organizations have mobilized funding to build a total of 393 temporary housing units in Pidie Jaya District, Aceh, with several already completed.
Meanwhile, the Pidie District Government is independently funding the construction of housing units in villages for affected residents, with 12 units already in place.
Disaster recovery efforts in Aceh also include the development of at least 609 housing units in Nagan Raya District, 67 units in Lhokseumawe City, and 914 units in Bener Meriah District.
The BNPB further reported that 3,413 temporary housing units are being built in East Aceh District and 2,650 units in Aceh Tamiang District.
In North Sumatra, the agency confirmed the construction of 40 housing units in a village in North Tapanuli District, targeted for completion by the end of January 2026.
Meanwhile, 816 units are under development across several villages in South Tapanuli District.
In West Sumatra, construction is ongoing for 437 units in Agam District and 64 units in Tanah Datar District. Additional housing units—though unspecified in number—have been built or remain under construction in Padang Pariaman, Lima Puluh Kota, and Pesisir Selatan districts.
The BNPB noted that the housing project is part of the government’s post-disaster recovery program, aimed at ensuring displaced residents have access to safe and decent shelter while awaiting the construction of permanent homes.
