According to an official press release received in Jakarta, the effort is part of the Army’s commitment to rehabilitating public facilities affected by natural disasters.
Brig. Gen. Donny Pramono, Head of the Army Information Service, said the cleanup team came from Koramil 14/Tanah Jambo Aye under Kodim 0103/North Aceh.
They were supported by troops from BKO Yonzipur 5/Arati Bhaya Wighina and Yonzipur 6/Satya Digdaya.
Working together, the personnel cleared mud from various parts of the school, including the yard, classrooms, and drainage systems.
“The work is being carried out using heavy equipment, including a mini excavator and a water tanker, to speed up the removal of mud and debris,” he said.
In addition to cleanup efforts, the Army personnel are also renovating the school by repainting six classrooms, repairing ceilings and toilets, and reorganizing the schoolyard.
Progress has so far reached 40 percent.
He said the TNI AD will continue accelerating the restoration so the school can soon reopen for students and teachers.
