Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti inaugurated 53 schools rehabilitated by the government after last November's floods and landslides in Central Aceh and Bener Meriah districts, Aceh Province, on Thursday.

"Revitalization works have been completed on 36 schools in Central Aceh and 17 schools in Bener Meriah," he remarked during a visit to Bintang 12 Elementary School in Bintang Sub-district, Central Aceh.

While inspecting the school's post-disaster condition and delivering education supplies, Mu'ti noted that the revitalization program covered facilities at the elementary, junior high, and senior high levels.

All 53 schools in the two districts have been restored and are ready to resume teaching and learning activities, he added.

He then voiced the government's commitment to expanding the program to more disaster-hit schools in other regions of the province in the 2026 fiscal year.

"Hopefully, we can prioritize schools in accessible areas in 2026," Mu'ti stated.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted his review of Public Junior High School (SMPN) 22 of Central Aceh, noting that it still requires special attention and assistance.

On that note, he endorsed plans to relocate the school's pupils to a provisional site prepared by the Central Aceh government while awaiting reconstruction.

"Our plan for this year is to push for the construction of new buildings for both SMPN 22 and Bintang 12 Public Elementary School, which we have visited," he said.

He also responded positively to requests for internet access assistance to support activities at the elementary school, which has received interactive flat panels under President Prabowo Subianto's school digitalization drive.

"Rest assured, our ministry will make efforts to provide Starlink-powered internet services to support teaching and learning activities," he stated.
