Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is collaborating with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to address alleged illegal gold mining across several regions, with an estimated total turnover of Rp992 trillion.

"We are currently confirming this with PPATK so the state can receive what is rightfully its," said Deputy Minister of ESDM Yuliot Tanjung in Jakarta on Friday.

Tanjung stated he does not yet know which companies are involved or where the illegal mining originated. He explained that these financial transactions require thorough analysis, as they may involve multiple parties.

"The financial transactions are very detailed, whether they are on the first layer, the second layer, or involve other parties," Tanjung said.

The PPATK reported that, based on 27 analyses and two reports related to the mining sector, there was a fund turnover with a transaction value of Rp517.47 trillion (US$30.8 billion).

One of the agency's primary concerns is illegal gold mining across Indonesia, including illicit distribution in Papua, West Kalimantan, Sulawesi, North Sumatra, Java, and other islands. This also includes the flow of gold from illegal mines to overseas markets.

Between 2023 and 2025, the PPATK recorded that transactions suspected of being related to illegal gold mining reached Rp85.03 trillion (US$11 billion), with a total turnover of Rp992 trillion (US$59 billion).

Throughout 2025, the PPATK submitted 1,540 financial intelligence products (PIK PPATK). Of these, 373 (approximately 24.22 percent) were related to alleged corruption, with a turnover of Rp180.87 trillion (US$10.7 billion).

The agency also recorded 178 cases (11.56 percent) linked to suspected tax-related money laundering, involving Rp934.52 trillion (US$55.6 billion), and 156 cases (10.13 percent) tied to alleged fraud totaling Rp22.53 trillion (US$1.3 billion).
