The move aims to increase the added value of domestic agro-based commodities.
In a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Industry Faizol Riza emphasized that the food and beverage sub-sector is a main pillar of IPNM's performance and plays a strategic role in national economic growth.
According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, the IPNM sector is projected to grow by 5.30 percent in 2025, surpassing the national economic growth rate of 5.01 percent, and contributing 19.07 percent to the gross domestic product (GDP).
From the first to the third quarter of 2025, the food and beverage industry employed 20.26 million workers and accounted for 80.27 percent of total national exports between January and November.
During this period, the sub-sector grew by 6.23 percent and contributed 41.06 percent to the IPNM. Realized investment reached Rp80.49 trillion (approximately US$4.7 billion), employing 6.67 million people as of August 2025.
"We encourage industry players to continue innovating, strengthening upstream-downstream synergies, and increasing access to export markets," the deputy minister said.
To support this initiative, Riza visited PT Haldin Pacific Semesta in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday (Feb 10) to inspect natural extract production.
He highlighted the potential for natural resource extraction to create high added value and expand export markets.
"We see great potential in the natural resource extraction industry to create high added value and strengthen exports. The government will continue to support this through policies focused on competitiveness, strengthening local supply chains, and improving human resources and technology," he said.
Industry Ministry official Putu Juli Ardika noted that agro-industry capacity must be bolstered through technological application and quality improvements, and optimizing the use of natural resources.
He added that the government is preparing policy instruments to improve performance, including a program to restructure industrial machinery and equipment.
