Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Zakat Agency (Baznas) and Ambassador to Egypt Kuncoro Giri Waseso dispatched 10 container trucks carrying food aid from Indonesian donors to Palestinians in Gaza.

“Alhamdulillah, today Baznas RI can deliver food packages to our brothers and sisters in Gaza, witnessed by Ambassador Kuncoro. We hope this assistance is truly beneficial,” Baznas chair Noor Achmad said Friday in Jakarta.

Noor said the 10 container trucks carry around 15,000 neatly packaged food aid kits ready for distribution.

He added that the humanitarian aid comes from Indonesians’ contributions of mandatory alms, voluntary charity, and general donations—known as zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS)—making its delivery a responsibility to support Gaza residents in need.

Noor expressed gratitude to the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo for providing the facilities to ensure smooth aid delivery.

“Baznas greatly appreciates the support from the Cairo Embassy in ensuring humanitarian assistance from the Indonesian people reaches Palestinians properly,” he said.

Ambassador Kuncoro Giri Waseso also thanked Baznas for organizing the aid for Palestine.

“Many thanks to Baznas RI for coordinating humanitarian aid from Indonesia and to our partner Mishr Al Kheir. We hope our cooperation continues to grow and strengthen,” Kuncoro said.
