Baznas Head Noor Achmad said the ambulance represents tangible assistance from the people and government of Karawang District, West Java, and will be delivered in collaboration with Egypt’s Gazze Destek Dernegi (GDD).
“The ambulance will be directly delivered to Gaza by Egypt's GDD, a humanitarian organization with strong networking and notable experience in relief missions in Palestine,” he noted in a statement cited in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Achmad assured the quality and reliability of the medical transport, stressing that its specifications were tailored to Gaza’s conditions to enable optimal treatment for those in urgent need.
“Let’s hope such collaboration will endure and grow stronger, given the massive assistance Gazans require. As Ramadan approaches, they need not only an ambulance but also food and other humanitarian aid,” he concluded.
Karawang Regional Secretary Asep Aang Rahmatullah made a similar statement, confirming that the district government had entrusted Baznas with delivering the donated ambulance to Gaza.
He noted that the government and people of Karawang also raised food assistance worth Rp236 million (approximately US$14 thousand).
“Hopefully, this assistance will be helpful for our brothers and sisters in Gaza, especially as Ramadan draws near,” the official said.
In the same statement, GDD leader Abu Faros extended appreciation to Indonesians for showing genuine care for Gaza residents, noting that the ambulance is particularly needed for disease prevention amid limited healthcare access.
“God willing, we will soon be able to enter Gaza. We will continue striving to ensure this assistance immediately reaches the people of Gaza,” he said.
