Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced that the presidential state visit to Japan and South Korea generated business cooperation commitments worth approximately Rp575 trillion (US$33.89 billion).

"With Japan, we were able to secure business commitments of US$23.63 billion, while those with the Republic of Korea reached US$10.26 billion," he remarked in a statement on Thursday.

According to him, these achievements demonstrate the high level of global investor confidence in Indonesia's economic policies under President Prabowo Subianto's leadership.

Wijaya highlighted the president's focus on promoting industrial downstreaming, strengthening energy security, and developing national strategic sectors.

He then identified President Prabowo’s direct engagement with business actors as a key factor in achieving these multi-billion dollar agreements.

"The president is not merely present symbolically but actively listens, responds quickly, and provides solutions to input from the business sector. This is what strengthens investor confidence," Wijaya stated.

He assured that the government will monitor all commitments to ensure they are implemented swiftly to impact national economic growth and job creation, and public welfare.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the visit to South Korea yielded significant results in strengthening the economic sector with the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between business players from both countries.

The cooperation with South Korean firms covers various strategic fields, including the green transition, solar power, and carbon capture and storage (CCS), and renewable energy.

In addition, the agreements encompass industrial and manufacturing sectors such as steel, batteries, and environmentally friendly transportation.

Meanwhile, the cooperation with Japan ranges from trade and energy to semiconductors, finance, and investment management.

Early Thursday morning, President Prabowo arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta after completing his visits to Japan and South Korea.

The head of state visited Japan from March 29 to March 31, where he met with Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

President Prabowo then headed to Seoul for a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the Presidential Palace Blue House on Wednesday, April 1.
