Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Immigration authorities in Tangerang have detained a British national, identified as DH, for allegedly causing a disturbance at a pet boarding facility in Ciputat, South Tangerang City, Banten Province, officials said.

Hasanin, head of the Class I Non-Border Immigration Office in Tangerang, said on Wednesday that DH allegedly created a commotion by pushing the gate of a cat boarding facility and refusing to pay service fees.

“He was also reported to have carried a sharp weapon and threatened local residents,” Hasanin said, adding that his office has coordinated with the British Embassy regarding the handling of the case.

In addition, DH is suspected of violating Article 78(3) of Indonesia’s Immigration Law and faces administrative measures, including deportation and blacklisting.

“He is currently being held in the detention room at the Tangerang Immigration Office to prevent any unwanted incidents,” Hasanin said.

Bong Bong Prakoso Napitupulu, head of intelligence and immigration enforcement at the same office, said an investigation found DH held a visit stay permit that had expired.

“He has overstayed since Oct. 21, 2025, or for 174 days,” he said.

Napitupulu added that authorities are still probing DH’s motive for being in Indonesia, while his mental condition has complicated the examination process.

Officers have also taken DH to Dr. Soeharto Heerdjan Psychiatric Hospital in Jakarta for medical treatment.

“Medical results indicate that he is experiencing delusions and hallucinations,” Napitupulu said.
