Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Air Force and the Republic of Singapore Air Force agreed to strengthen defense cooperation during a high-level meeting in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday, focusing on joint training, education, and humanitarian operations.

The agreement was reached after Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono met Republic of Singapore Air Force Chief of Staff-Air Staff Brigadier General Ho Kum Luen at the Indonesian Air Force Headquarters.

According to an official statement released on Wednesday, both sides discussed expanding collaboration in combat training exercises, military education, and enhancing human resources in defense technology, alongside broader strategic cooperation.

"Both sides discussed strengthening cooperation through joint exercises and opportunities for collaboration in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR),” Indonesian Air Force Spokesperson Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana said in a statement.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force welcomed the proposal for deeper engagement and also expressed appreciation for the Indonesian Air Force’s Jupiter Aerobatic Team, which recently performed at the Singapore Airshow.

Harjono, on his part, also expressed appreciation for the ongoing defense ties between the two air forces, underscoring continued commitment to strengthening regional air defense capabilities and operational readiness.

The meeting highlights sustained defense diplomacy between the two Southeast Asian neighbors, aimed at enhancing interoperability and preparedness in both military operations and humanitarian response efforts.
