Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Army (TNI AD) Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak reported that the force had opened clean water access at 7,217 locations across Indonesia since 2020.

He made the statement during a military unit commander gathering at Defense University in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (April 29), according to a press release received here on Thursday.

Simanjuntak explained that the clean water program is driven by his concerns over limited clean water access in drought-prone regions, citing his field observations over the years.

“I run the program while digging for more information on water issues,” he remarked.

The general further said the program aims to ensure communities have sufficient clean water for daily needs, including household use and farming activities.

He added that TNI AD also uses the initiative to expand its role beyond safety and security to the welfare of people, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s push to elevate living standards.

The TNI AD chief emphasized that his team is committed to sustaining and expanding the initiative to reach more communities across Indonesia.
