Jakarta (ANTARA) -
The Primary and Secondary Education Ministry is preparing a new scheme to ensure the continuity of employment and salaries for non-civil servant (non-ASN) teachers who are currently teaching in public schools across various education levels.

The ministry's Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel, Nunuk Suryani, said that such teachers are still greatly needed, considering their long years of service and the ongoing shortage of teachers, especially in remote, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas.

"In this circular, the agreement is indeed set until 2026 because there will be a new scheme that is still being discussed regarding their assignments, as they will still be needed next year," Suryani said in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Tuesday.

Furthermore, she explained that the ministry had previously issued a circular Number 7 of 2026, which regulates the employment period and salaries of non-civil servant teachers until December 31, 2026.

According to the circular, the non-ASN teachers, who hold a teaching certificate and meet the required workload, are entitled to receive a professional teacher allowance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Additionally, those teachers who hold a teaching certificate, but do not meet the required workload, will receive incentives. Finally, the non-civil servant teachers who do not yet have a teaching certificate will also receive incentives from the Ministry.

"We issued this circular because regional governments need a reference to be able to continue extending the employment of non-ASN teachers," Suryani said.

Therefore, she emphasized that the ministry will continue to advocate for non-ASN teachers based on the need for their roles and will not lay them off.
