It applies not only to Islamic hospitals; but also to public, government, and private hospitalsTangerang (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government assures sharia certification in healthcare system is inclusively applied to create its better services in line with religious values, Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono said here on Wednesday.
"This certification is inclusive, not exclusive. It applies not only to Islamic hospitals; but also to public, government, and private hospitals," Dante said at the 6th International Islamic Healthcare Conference and Expo in Tangerang, Banten.
By means of the certification, he added, all hospitals in Indonesia could provide better services in accordance with Islamic religious values.
He revealed that sharia certification in health sector will be issued by National Sharia Council-Indonesian Ulama Council (DSN-MUI), not by the Ministry of Health.
Dante said that currently there are around 24,000 halal-certified pharmaceutical products, and the number will continue to grow, ensuring that the public receives better guaranteed healthcare services.
Sharia certification for hospitals is an effort to improve the quality of healthcare services by integrating medical standards with religious values.
The concept is applied inclusively to provide comfort, peace, and freedom of choice for all citizens.
“The medical standards follow general requirements, complemented by sharia values, to realize a holistic healthcare system that combines both medical and spiritual aspects,” Dante said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Healthcare Council Masyhudi said that 40 hospitals in Indonesia have already received sharia certification, including four government-owned hospitals. In addition, around 77 hospitals are currently in the process of obtaining sharia certification.
Nationally, there are around 3,200 hospitals in Indonesia, of which 500 are Islamic-based.
“We hope the number of sharia-based hospitals in Indonesia will continue to grow, in accordance with the streamlined certification process and increasing public demand,” Masyhudi said.
