The operation by Densus 88 targeted eight members of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah network, said Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, the anti-terrorism unit's spokesperson, on Wednesday.
He said the arrests were made in raids conducted between 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. local time in Poso and Parigi Moutong districts on Wednesday.
Four suspects identified as R (32), AT (29), RP (32), and ZA (37) were arrested in Poso.
The remaining four — identified as A (43), A (46), S (47), and DP (39) — were apprehended in Parigi Moutong.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects had allegedly spread extremist propaganda through social media posts, videos, and other content linked to radicalism and terrorism.
The suspects were also believed to be involved in other terrorism-related activities.
"Densus 88 continues to expand the investigation into the eight suspects," Wardhana said.
The operation was part of efforts to prevent the spread of radicalism and maintain national security against terrorism threats.
