He said the government is committed to upgrading facilities on Indonesia’s northernmost island, including public health centers and schools.
“We will renovate all schools. This year and over the next two to three years, we will upgrade schools across Indonesia,” he told residents.
In April, Prabowo said the government aims to complete repairs on about 288,000 schools by 2028.
Around 17,000 schools were renovated in 2025, with another 70,000 targeted this year and 100,000 planned for 2027–2028.
The president also visited State Vocational High School 2 in Talaud to review digitalization support for schools.
He checked whether schools had received interactive digital boards to support teaching and learning.
Local officials confirmed schools on Miangas Island have received the digital equipment.
Prabowo thanked residents for their welcome, noting he is the second Indonesian president to visit the island.
He said the visit allowed him to assess conditions directly and reaffirmed plans to improve key public facilities.
Beyond health and education, he also provided assistance to fishermen, including a 15-gross-ton vessel.
Prabowo arrived in Miangas after attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, on May 7–8, 2026.
Miangas is one of Indonesia’s outermost islands, located near the Philippine border.
