Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s animation industry has shown significant development, with the capacity of its talent and the quality of its works, considered to have reached globally competitive standards, according to the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

"Today underlines that we currently possess the technical capacity, the quality of talent, and the creative power of the nation’s young generation that have already reached globally competitive standards," Head of BRIN's Research Center for Society and Culture Aulia Hadi said here on Tuesday.

She explained the growth of the national animation industry over the past decade has shown an increasingly larger contribution to Indonesia’s creative economy.

Aulia Hadi mentioned the Indonesia Animation Report 2026 recorded significant growth in the national animation industry, including in the development of intellectual property (IP).

"More than that, the surge in IP revenue in the animation sector, especially in 2025, also marks the birth of a new era in the creative economy based on intellectual property," she remarked.

Indonesia holds major potential in developing creative IP, supported by the country’s diversity of local stories and characters.

"Indonesia has begun to demonstrate its production capacity to take part in the vast potential for creating characters, stories, and various creative universes existing in Indonesia," she added.

The report maps various strategic dimensions of the national animation industry, she said, ranging from industry structure and financing to business model transformation and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI).

"We hope the Indonesia Animation Report 2026 can become a strategic foundation for us, for more progressive policies, stronger collaboration, and certainly for the future of Indonesia’s animation industry," Hadi stated.
