Shanghai, China (ANTARA) - Indonesia secures seven trade agreements with a potential transaction value of US$60.3 million with China, during Asia’s premium food and beverage trade fair, the Salon International de l’Alimentation (SIAL), in Shanghai.

“This figure is far above our target of around US$30 million. We are grateful for the significant increase,” Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri told ANTARA Beijing on Tuesday.

She mentioned that the Indonesian food products on display included CPO derivatives, bird's nests, frozen durian, seaweed, various types of chips, dried tempeh and coffee.

Currently, she continued, processed food products from Indonesia are expanding and deepening their market in China.

"We are working to deepen and expand, with the ministry is trying to help facilitate the standards applicable in China so that Indonesian businesses can adapt," she said.

During the participation on the trade fair, she continued, Indonesia has not received any complaints from its Chinese partners.

"Based on my experience, there have been no complaints from Chinese partners. As far as we know, Indonesian business owners are already aware of the applicable standards before shipping goods (to China)—including packaging, so they comply with language, labeling and other requirements," she explained.

In a separate statement, Dyah Roro stated that Indonesia's participation in SIAL Shanghai 2026 is a strategic step to expand market access, strengthen partnerships between business actors, and encourage increased exports of Indonesia's leading products to the Chinese market.

She stated that Indonesia-China trade relations continue to show a positive trend, with China is considered as one of the main drivers of Indonesia's trade growth in the Asian region.

In the 2021-2025 period, total trade between Indonesia and China grew by 7.24 percent. In 2025, Indonesia's exports to China were recorded at US$67 billion, reflecting high demand and the growing competitiveness of Indonesian products in the Chinese market.

China remains a potential market for various leading Indonesian products, particularly in the agricultural, food and value-added product sectors.

In 2025, Indonesia's agricultural exports to China reached US$1.55 billion, with a growth trend of 10.8 percent over the past five years. Meanwhile, Indonesia's processed food exports to China valued at US$386.48 million.

Indonesia's leading commodities that are increasingly in demand in the Chinese market include bird's nests, coffee, spices, fishery products, seaweed, coconut products, tropical fruits as well as palm oil and its derivatives.

“Demand from the Chinese market for Indonesian products continues to increase. This presents significant opportunities for domestic businesses to expand export markets and increase the value-added of Indonesian products,” Dyah Roro said.
