During a meeting with JWC organizers, the minister expressed hope that young talents in Indonesian cinema would be able to collaborate with senior filmmakers.
"We hope that all talented individuals in the regions will eventually have the opportunity and witness major festivals, such as Cannes," Zon said in a statement confirmed here on Wednesday.
This year's Jakarta World Cinema is scheduled to take place in late October, featuring screenings of winning films and the presentation of several honors.
In addition, awards for best actor and actress will be presented, while several winning directors will share their experiences through masterclass sessions.
Minister Zon also said that the screenplay writing competition organized by the Ministry of Culture could be promoted more effectively through platforms such as film markets.
According to him, the best screenplays from the competition could later receive matching funds to support their production into films.
JWC Director of Public Affairs Razka Robby Ertanto stated that, in terms of talent development, the organizers have implemented a sustainable incubation scheme for short film competition winners through the development of longer film projects.
According to him, the program focuses not on cash prizes, but on sustaining filmmaker regeneration and opening opportunities for newcomers in the national film industry.
The meeting between Minister Zon and JWC organizers also discussed financing schemes through the Dana Indonesiaraya matching fund program.
Through this scheme, Zon said, film production financing can be carried out collaboratively between the government and the industry.
