The Eid al-Adha prayer was solemn and attended by Indonesians and the diaspora who had filled Wisma Indonesia in Paris since morning to perform congregational prayers with the Head of State.
According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat's Office, President Prabowo arrived at the location at around 8:40 a.m. local time, accompanied by the recitation of the Takbir (prayer call). He then proceeded to the rows to join the congregation in reciting the Takbir before the prayer began.
The Eid al-Adha prayer was led by Fakhruddin Arrozi, a master's alumnus of the International Islamic University of Islamabad, Pakistan, who currently teaches at Muhammadiyah University Lamongan.
In his sermon, Fakhruddin emphasized that Eid al-Adha not only has a divine dimension, but also a humanitarian one. He conveyed that the sacrifice serves as a reminder for Muslims to share, maintain their Islamic identity, strengthen families and unity, especially for the Muslim diaspora living abroad.
"We are not commanded to slaughter our children like Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), but we are commanded to slaughter our egos in order to obey Allah's command," Arrozi preached in his sermon.
This message resonated with the sense of togetherness reflected in the congregational prayer, where Indonesians in France used the Eid al-Adha moment as a space to strengthen social and spiritual ties in their homeland.
After performing the Eid prayer, President Prabowo was seen greeting and shaking hands with the attendees.
The event then continued with a social gathering and a meal between the President and the Indonesian community in Paris, as part of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
This moment reflected the President's close relationship with the Indonesian diaspora and strengthened the sense of togetherness among Indonesian citizens celebrating Eid al-Adha abroad.
