In his Pancasila Day ceremony speech, observed online from Jakarta on Monday, Prabowo acknowledged that economic growth had not delivered tangible benefits evenly to citizens.
On that note, he called for “transformation from an economy not fully grounded in Pancasila to one truly rooted in Pancasila.”
Prabowo described a Pancasila-based economy as an economic model that adheres to religious values, considers social and humanitarian aspects, and contributes to the strengthening of national unity.
Elaborating further, the head of state emphasized the importance of responsible extraction and use of Indonesia’s natural resources to boost prosperity and ensure long-term welfare for future generations.
With that in mind, Prabowo asserted that Indonesia’s economic growth and development must not stop at shaping mere statistics. He said progress should be translated into elevated living standards for all.
The president noted that his administration had rolled out initiatives supporting that objective, citing ongoing efforts to provide nutritious food to those in need, fertilizer assistance for farmers, broader market access for fishermen, and stronger protections for workers.
He reiterated that Indonesia’s economy must not veer from national interests and people’s welfare, once again calling for equitable progress.
“The Pancasila economy is an egalitarian economy centered on the people. Our economy must be based on the national blueprint formulated by our founding fathers,” Prabowo affirmed.
He highlighted social justice as a core principle, citing Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, which mandates state control of strategic resources and production elements for the greatest benefit of the people.
“We now have a more ambitious ideal, moving beyond talks of development. We will continue to implement a strategy for national transformation. Our strategy essentially aims for transformation into a Pancasila-based model,” Prabowo remarked.
